Yesterday, I have gone through one of the advertisement of an MBA college based in Gujarat, which is affiliated to GTU. EVA Institute, Rajkot, which has said in the advertisement that it was the best performing MBA college in GTU examination, offering Admission Without Fees in the first semester.

What can be the possible reason for such type of advertisements? According to my knowledge, it may be the first of its kind advertisement by any of the GTU affiliated MBA college. According to the reports of the vacant seats, 170 out of 180 seats are vacant in this college and that may have forced them to offer free education.

Now, I would like to raise a question that is it an ethical activity? From first angle it looks like, they are trying to lure the students. There are chances that many students who have taken admission in some good colleges, may change their mind to save few rupees. GTU should consider these things and oppose such type of activities.

This type of activities will increase unhealthy competition among colleges and there are chances that the factor or quality MBA education will become a second priority.

All MBA Colleges which are affiliated to GTU have common syllabus, common faculty standards etc then they MUST have to follow the fees decided by the committee. To attract the students to get admission, this type of price based factors should not be encouraged.

MBA craze goes down: 1450 MBA seats remained vacant after 3rd round of reshuffling

Now a days, everyone wants to do MBA (Master of Business Administration), because they think that it is a passport to high paying corporate jobs. But due to recession and decline in jobs and salaries, the students interest went down and the result was that around 1450 seats of various MBA colleges remain vacant even after the third round.

One of the biggest reason behind the downfall of the MBA degree is the increase of MBA colleges and number of seats in those colleges. For the last three years, more and more MBA colleges are getting approval to start MBA courses but many of the newly opened colleges are even not able to provide placements to their students and now students prefer to stay away from those colleges.

According to the latest news, after 3rd round of reshuffling, 1450 MBA seats remained vacant across 19 MBA colleges. Many of them are newly opened MBA colleges in Gujarat.

There are few colleges which weren't able to fill up 10% seats of total capacity. The management of such colleges have asked GTU to allow the college management to fill the seats by their own or conduct 4th round of reshuffling.

The tragedy is that there are many students who got minus (-) score in the qualifying examination GCET 2010, but still able to get admission in those MBA programs.

Should we expect industry ready MBA students from these MBA Colleges?
