Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) for MBA is the single window entry to MBA course in the colleges offering Two Years full time and three years evening Masters of Business Administration degree program which are affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, (GTU) Ahmedabad.

About Gujarat Technological University (GTU):

Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad was established by Governement of Gujarat in 2007 for creating a central university for Diploma, Degree and Masters in Engineering, Pharmacy, Computer Applications and Management.

All Diploma Engineering, Degree Engineering, Masters in Engineering, Degree Pharmacy, Masters in Pharmacy, MBA and MCA are affiliated with GTU effective from the academic year 2009-10.

About Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET):

GCET was introduced with a view of creating a single window entry system for MBA course across the all colleges, institutes and university departments.

GCET was introduced in 2002 and GCET MBA 2010 will be the 9th examination. Till 2009, a nodal university was handling the admission procedure for GCET but from the academic year 2009-10, GTU will conduct the GCET Exam.

GCET MBA 2010

Gujarat Common Entrance Test, popularly known as GCET for MBA 2010 will be conducted by GTU. It is not official but GCET MBA 2010 will be online like a computer based test rather than traditional pen and paper type of examination.

GCET MBA 2010 will be conducted under the direction of a committee constituted by the vice-chancellors of universities in accordance with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines.

GTU will take the responsibility of conduction GCET for MBA 2010.

Admission Rules:

All the government seats shall be filled on the basis of merit list prepared by the admission committee.

All the management quota seats shall be filled by the management of the respective institutes on the basis of the merit list of the students whose names appear in the merit list prepared by the admission committee.

100% of the seats of the government and granted colleges have to be filled on the basis of the merit list.

Self financed institutes can fill 25% seats on their own with a criteria that the student being offered should have cleared GCET MBA 2010. Out of 25% seats, 15% seats are reserved for NRI or NRI sponsored candidates.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students who want to appear for the GCET MBA 2010 must have to clear the qualifying examination with minimum 50%  marks (45% for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe) from a University situated in the Gujarat State or a University Situated outside of Gujarat provided the candidates have cleared the HSC (10 + 2)  or its equivalent examination  from a Gujarat Board, or a Central Board of Secondary Education in which the student had studied based in Gujarat or in Union territories like Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli or any national level board from which the student had studied based in Gujarat.

A student who has appeared in the final year examination is also eligible to appear in GCET provided that he/she shall have passed the qualifying examination with minimum 50% marks (45% marks for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes candidates) at the time of admission.

The minimum marks means the marks given as grand total of the final year mark sheet. If there is no percentages are mentioned then the equivalent percentage is calculated equivalent to the grade points.

Reservation:

For the purpose of the admission, the seats shall be reserved for the candidates who are origin of Gujarat and falling under the following categories, namely:-

Scheduled Caste (SC) : 7%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) : 15%
Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) including widows and orphan of any caste: 27%
Physically Challenged Candidates: 3% of total seats in each categories will be reserved for Physically Challenged candidates. Physically Challenged means a person suffering physical disability of any type not less than Forty percentages as certified by a medical authority. 
Children of Defense and Ex-service men: 1% of available seats shall be reserved for the children of Defense personals and Ex-service man. To get admission under this category the candidate has to present
 
If a student want to take admission under a reserved category then he/she has to produce the caste certificate from the applicable government authority.

If a candidate belong to Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) category then he/she has to produce a non-creamy layer certificate issued by the concerned government authority.
