3rd round of MBA reshuffling was over and still, 1400+ seats in various MBA colleges in Gujarat remained vacant. The condition was that many colleges are not able to get students and they may have to accept those students who even don't scored "0", yes a big ZERO mark in the qualifying examination, GCET MBA 2010. GTU is working for the improvement of the quality of education in Gujarat and specially in the professional courses but lowering the standards for the sake of filling those vacant seats is dangerous for the education system as well as industry too. GTU must have to specify a cut off score for being eligible to get admission in MBA degree. The MBAs with this type of performance will only increase meaningless competition in the market as well as they will not add any value to the industry too. If GTU will allow all students to get admission in MBA course, at the end of the two years, they will increase the number of unemployed educated people only. I have read the message of the vice chancellor Dr.Akshai where he is encouraging the students to attend the classes and focusing on not getting ATKT etc. Do he really think that a person with no ATKT and good score will serve the real meaning of having an MBA degree? The new pattern of examination and course curriculum focus more on getting good score and not about the practical knowledge which they require and the industry will demand after two years. Industry will not ask how much %% you got in your MBA degree but they will expect what you learn to increase the value of the holdings of the stack holders of the company etc. The GTU / AICTE rules encourage the faculty members to have 60% marks in MBA to become eligible to become a faculty in MBA course. Do the vice-chancellor think that a faculty member, who never have seen the corporate life and don't have the capability to assume how the business run, will teach the students to run businesses? making strategies? re-structuring organizations? How will it be possible? I know many MBA colleges which runs by fresh pass outs. What will they add in terms of values? I know faculty members who are even not capable of teaching MBA in the medium prescribed by the AICTE/GTU and use Gujarati/Hindi to communicate with the students. There is arrangement of punishing the students for non-performance. They may be failed or get ATKT and students have to face a lot of mental trauma etc. But ever GTU/AICTE think to punish the faculty members/institutes for non performance. Do they ever think that the students should get fees refund if the college can't get placement for them? If these things are not done, in future, there will be no value of so called MBAs. |
